Week Three: Monday

In todays lecture we looked at grids and composition and what its means to communicate your work through an effective grid. We explored the use of visual hierarchy and how we should be aware of the importance of how we read a page and what our attention is drawn too. It taught me how having a poor grid and layouts can disrupt the navigation and meaning that you are trying to communicate, compared to an effective layout. In studio we mocked up grid layouts for planning our brochure.

After this studio I went to the library and got out the book 'Basic Design 02 Layout' by Gavin Ambrose & Paul Harris to get more inspiration of layouts so that I can start to create spreads for the interim on Thursday. I found this studio enjoyable and was a good refresher of some of the principles that we were taught in Type during first year.

I feel as though I need to pick up the pace and create imagery for the interim on Thursday as I feel as though I am starting to fall behind and feel it is important that I utilise the critique so that my ideas can continue to develop and improve.
