Week Two: Monday

In this studio we looked at a range of materials and how we can incorporate them when communicating through our media. We did a series of quick drawing exersices where we focused on an object that connected to our chosen activity. I brought in with me a vintage flower vase that is now used to serve G&Ts in at many bars. The different time limits allowed a different range of detail to be shown. I have attached my drawings below. Another exercise included using ink and a straws to draw the vase. This was a fun exercise and it gave me an idea to explore the way the liquid in the drink can be shown. Another material looked at using textures. I drew on different surfaces with various materials. The last station consisted of crayons and looking at your object on white vs black paper and the differences when it was inverted. This helped me to understand the different mediums we can use and ideally I can see how different mediums could create strong collage imagery.

Following on from this I need to continue to gather research and dig deeper in to my signs/symbols and icons. This week I really need to finalise my idea and the theme I want to show through my collages/illustrations. I need to look at more artists models and start to generate concepts.
