Week 5: Monday

In this lecture we looked at maps and the systems that are used to communicate different routes and places. It was really cool to see the artwork of the lectures son whilst also looking at the mapping system of the London Underground which is now internationally recognised. And I was able to see think about the repetition of this in different cities that I have been to.

In studio we did a quick activity on drawing maps of our commute to university from home. I feel as though mine was very simple as I live on Tasman street so I din't add too much. However it gave me a good idea of basic understating of how important street names were and icons are in a map to show position of a place. I enjoyed this activity and found that some peoples design using simple icons were super effective such as just showing the war memorial and and Massey along with street names worked well.

This week will be a big week for me and I need to make sure I have created content for the interim on Thursday. I need to create a map, food and drink illustrations plus explore possible cover designs. I need to continue to develop and refine my style. Overall though it is good to see this project taking shape and will be nice to see the end product soon.
